Release tomorrow and future schedule!
Hello everyone! So... release date's tomorrow. In roughly 30 hours, actually. Before that happens, there's a bit I want to go over. This will go over what to expect from this project over the course of October.
So first off the game will be "complete"; the dialogue and core levels and gameplay will be in, but there's a few spots I've cut corners on to keep to this release date. Cutscenes aren't particularly fancy or as elaborate as I'd like, some tiles and art could stand to be improved, and that sort of thing are the main cuts. There were some levels cut that weren't as important to the core game in terms of humor or character development, but they were somewhat interesting at least in terms of level variety, so I'm debating on whether to come back and add those in at some point or not. But the game will be finished tomorrow; there will be enough to play and enjoy, and any additional content I come back and add later will feel like added content, and not feel like an incomplete experience.
I will say that there will likely be some bug fixes and dialogue changes/additions in the coming weeks. One of the unique problems I've had with this project is that people have been rather uninterested in doing much playtesting since they want to play the full game. This means that there will likely be bugs, or seemingly missing dialogue because I'll assume I explained a mechanic or character relationship or something properly when I totally forgot to write it in. Mistakes will happen and I'm fine with criticism, so please make sure when you play to save often and tell me of any problems.
So on October 1st at 5 pm PST I'm going to finish whatever testing I'm still doing and start compiling/uploading the game, so expect it to be up on the page at 6 pm PST. If you aren't planning on playing until the weekend, I'd recommend not downloading until Friday in case there's an issue that's found and I patch it out in the next few days. I'll also have a barebones version of the strategy guide ready for those Kickstarter backers on Friday, which will include map help, general tactics, and specific boss strategies. The rest of the month will largely be working on requested fixes and fleshing out the strategy guide. At the end of the month I'll post about whether or not the game will remain as is, or if I'll patch in the additional levels, as I'll have had time to see if I'm really up for actually committing to that or if I'm satisfied with the way things are and the players seem to be too.
I feel like there's more I want to say but I need to get back to adding more writing to the game itself. A lot of dialogue needs to be handled today, along with many other important tasks and tests. Thank you all for your continued patience and support, and if you have any questions/comments/concerns, feel free to contact me.
